Wild bergamot has strong anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory actions, and is a perfect tea to drink at the onset and duration of a cold or upper respiratory infection. Also, wild bergamot has an effect on the nervous system and can help with tension headaches, anxiety and depression. It can also be applied as a salve for wounds, bruises, swelling, rashes and burns. The fresh leaves and flowers are edible and make lovely pestos and zesty additions to salads. (Not to be confused with the Earl Grey bergamot— totally different)
