Mugwort has a long tradition as a witch’s herb affecting our awareness of our dreamworld, enabling lucid dreaming and enhancing our ability to remember our dreams. Its visionary abilities are what draws itself to those who inhabit the realms of magic and deep connection to the subconscious. For some, even just a little leaf tucked under their pillow can bring forth these effects. I have to admit, this kind of alleged plant power makes me squirm with skepticism. But still, curious. So I planted some Mugwort seeds. The tiny specs. And she grew. I harvested, dried, tinctured some. And I don’t know quite how to put it, but it’s all real. The dream connection is what I noticed first. One dropper full, then two, then none. Each and every night, Mugwort was there. All it took after a connection was made was the sprig kept under pillow, her essence in a bottle at my bedside. This plant ally is not a tonic herb, to be used daily or one to take while pregnant, or trying to conceive. She is to be taken with purpose and intention. And lightly. She can open a gateway into another dimension of your awareness, to bond your disconnected psyche. Her bitter nature will also calm and soothe the digestive system, move stagnant energy, decongest the liver, and bring forth delayed or slow menses. Artemesia Vulgaris. You can just start to see her witchy shrouded face, can’t you? If you squint your mind, turn your gaze to the star pools, lean into wonderment and reach toward a true herbal enchantment… She is there.
