Motherwort

Motherwort is a wonderful anti-anxiety herb that is specifically calming to the heart. When anxiety makes you heart beat fast, and panic attacks, motherwort is there. She works her magic almost instantly, which is a rare gift. Her Latin name, Leonorus cardiaca, means lionhearted one. A truly motherly energy; gentle and grounding, lifting out of the doldrums, and breathing patience and calming into the heart.. She is also useful for managing symptoms of hyperthyroidism, though most notably, Motherwort has earned her name as a uterine tonic, a birth aid to strengthen contractions during labor, lending her support during postpartum depletion, depression and anxiety, and also for menstrual irregularities, cramps and moodiness, PMS, delayed or scanty menses, she is a traditional women’s herb, a mother who is there when you need her. Motherwort. Just a few drops under the tongue. This tincture is the warm embrace, the calming hand upon you heart. Shhh. my daring, shhh. Now. What else do you need. Okay. Now. Let’s get on with your day. So far I haven’t exactly grown the Motherwort crop of my dreams. It’s been small- tenacious yet not completely vigorous. I figured it would fare well with neglect. But. She. Needs….. Something. “Remind me who I mother.” she says. “Me” I answer. I know this: Even mothers need mothers. And I will get better each year at honing this relationship, I will. With care. She is lion-hearted, like me. She needs some love to give love. This is not rare in the garden. But what IS rare, is the amount of love she will return. Exactly when you need it. When you need some motherlove, like, 10 minutes ago. She will come. As. Soon. As. You. Ask.
